Road reconstruction is underway on Ruth Drive in South Padre Island near Beach Access 21. Crews are installing new storm drain lines to address flooding issues.
Project Details
The work includes a complete reconstruction of the road, reclaiming right-of-ways, and creating more parking and pedestrian access to the beach while improving drainage.
"This is a complete reconstruction of the road. We're taking the existing road out, reclaiming right-of-ways, and creating more parking and pedestrian access to the beach and improving drainage," said SPI Assistant Public Works Director Jon Wilson.1
The project is expected to take about five months to complete.
