The City of Austin's Mobility Oversight Committee announced the groundbreaking of the Burnet Road Corridor C4 project during its April 2 meeting. This initiative covers improvements from US 183 to Bright Verde Way, with construction anticipated to span from spring 2026 to fall 2027 and a total planned spending of $28.4 million, of which $25.2 million is already obligated.[1]

Travis County released its Capital Improvement Projects summary on April 13, detailing the status of numerous road projects in the Austin metro area. Several initiatives are actively under construction, including FM 1626 improvements to a four-lane arterial with shoulders and sidewalks, and Cameron Road east of SH 130 widening from two lanes to four with a shared use path. Other projects, such as Bee Creek Road enhancements and Howard Lane Shared Use Path, have recently started.[2]

Major Highway Progress

Updates from regional trackers confirm continued work on prominent highway projects. The US 183 North corridor recently opened its northbound express lanes in January and southbound in February, with finishing touches like sidewalks and landscaping now underway toward a full 2026 completion. Similarly, the Oak Hill Parkway project advanced with portions of main lanes and U-turns opening in March, as crews push toward the overall 2026 finish line.[3]

Loop 360 improvements remain a focus, with preparations for new phases at intersections like Courtyard Drive/RM 2222 and Lakewood Drive/Spicewood Springs Road set to begin in 2026. These efforts address longstanding congestion and safety concerns in West Austin.

Looking ahead, the Parmer Lane Corridor Study public comment period closes April 27, potentially shaping future enhancements. Ongoing I-35 Capital Express segments signal sustained investment, with potential for additional lane openings and interchanges in the coming months.
