A major industrial construction project received attention in Gastonia during August with the announcement of a new concrete pipe manufacturing facility.
Project Details
Fit Precast plans a 154,000-square-foot facility along Highway 321 South. The $102 million investment includes construction of the plant, which is projected for completion in the second quarter of 2026.[1]
The facility will produce large-scale concrete infrastructure products and add to the area's industrial base. Construction activities related to the project align with developments reported in early August.
Employment Opportunities
The project is expected to bring 125 new jobs with an average annual wage of $102,168. This wage level exceeds the county average of approximately $52,180, potentially generating more than $12.7 million in annual payroll impact.[1]
Mayor Richard Franks noted the project's role in attracting advanced manufacturing and high-quality jobs.
Demolition work began in mid-August on the former Central YMCA site as part of the separate Franklin Yards mixed-use development valued at $60 million, though full construction remains scheduled for later years.[2]
