The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department has announced the imminent start of construction on the Cottonwood-Agua Fria Intersection Improvements Project.

Project Details

In partnership with GM Emulsion, crews will build a new roundabout along with dedicated bike lanes and ADA-compliant sidewalks. The improvements aim to address aging infrastructure and higher traffic volumes at the location.

Construction status is listed as beginning, with the most recent update dated August 10, 2026. Work is scheduled to commence on August 17, 2026, and reach completion in May 2027.1

Traffic and Community Impacts

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and adhere to posted traffic controls in the work zone. Radio and local newspaper advertisements informing residents began on August 7, 2026.

Additional active projects noted on city updates include ongoing or recently completed elements of earlier efforts such as Airport Road median work and the Tierra Contenta Trail Extension, though these have primary activity outside the immediate early-August window.
