The US 160 reconstruction project continues through the summer construction season in 2026, focusing on concrete paving and utility upgrades in the downtown area.
Current Activities
Work in the 300 block includes ongoing roadway and sidewalk pours. Utility work persists in the 500 block following completion of waterline installations. Crews are operating seven days a week for the foreseeable future.
Traffic and Access Changes
Two-way traffic now flows on the north side of US 160, also known as Pagosa Street. The intersection closure at Lewis Street and US 160 remains in effect, with alternatives via 4th, 7th, and 8th streets recommended. A closure at the Hot Springs Boulevard intersection for utility and paving work was implemented earlier in June and anticipated through mid-month.
Additional impacts include closure of the overlook parking lot during the Hot Springs Boulevard work, with alternative options promoted nearby.
Project Timeline
The overall project, which began in 2025, is scheduled for completion by November 2026, encompassing downtown segments and pedestrian improvements at the Harman Park Drive/Piedra Road intersection later in the year.
