Recent updates from the Colorado Department of Transportation outline progress and schedule adjustments for the US 160 reconstruction project through downtown Pagosa Springs.
Weekly Work Plans
For the week of November 2-7, crews plan paving operations at the 7th Street intersection if weather permits, while the 5th Street intersection remains closed for geothermal utility work and paving. The 1st Street north side stays closed, and 6th Street remains closed until lanes west of McCabe Creek are paved. Milling and paving for 8th-10th streets has shifted to the week of November 9.
Work at the Harman Park and Piedra Road intersection continues daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including sidewalk forming and pouring, with island demolition and replacement planned soon. Drivers are advised to allow extra time and slow down in work zones.
Flooding Impacts
Prior flooding has influenced the project timeline, with some planned milling and paving delayed. Crews will work weekends as needed when weekday work is hindered by weather. The reconstruction area saw limited damage overall, though stabilization efforts focus on sections like between 6th and 8th streets.
Federal approval of quick-release funds supports broader flood repairs on affected highways including US 160, with work aimed at restoring capacity before winter.
CDOT representatives noted that planned work depends on multiple factors following the flooding event.[1]
