Flagstaff Shelter Services completed the purchase of the former Howard Johnsons Motel on East Route 66 for just over $6 million earlier this month. The 58-room property spans 72,000 square feet and will initially expand emergency shelter capacity before transitioning to permanent supportive housing.

The site is expected to serve more than 1,000 people annually, with 24/7 care coordination on site. Funding included support from the Arizona Department of Housing and additional foundations.
