Cuesta College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 5, 2026, for its new North County campus instructional building in the region. The approximately 18,800-square-foot facility supports expanded training in commercial driver’s license instruction, agriculture, blacksmithing, kinesiology and related areas.
Facility Features and Programs
The building includes classrooms, laboratories and outdoor instructional areas for technical, health and wellness, and career education programs. It features a commercial driver’s license simulator, soil science laboratory, blacksmithing space and movement classrooms.
Local Workforce Connections
Superintendent/President Jill Stearns stated that the facility gives the college greater flexibility to develop career-focused programs in response to local workforce needs while helping students gain practical skills that can lead directly to employment, advancement or further education. Executive Director Katie Osman noted that blacksmithing is the primary new program planned, with expansions in agriculture, kinesiology and commercial driver’s license training.
Assistant Superintendent Todd Hampton emphasized the design integration of specialized spaces to adapt to changing programs and workforce needs. The project was funded through Measure L and supports connections to regional industries including transportation, agriculture and skilled trades.
