The Aspen Music Festival and School commenced its summer activities on July 1, offering a range of orchestral, recital, and theatrical performances through the month.
Training Opportunities for Emerging Artists
Each summer, nearly 500 young artists participate in the program, performing in four orchestras, singing, conducting, composing, and studying with more than 100 artist-faculty members from major orchestras and conservatories. Participants serve as both students and colleagues to their instructors, gaining professional experience through side-by-side performances.
July Performances and Collaborations
Featured events in mid-July included the Starlight Series presentation of Guys and Dolls in Concert on July 13 and 14, in partnership with Theatre Aspen. Additional programming featured the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra on July 15 and recitals by artists such as countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo and violinist Augustin Hadelich.
The festival has also introduced video screens at the tent for select weeks to provide close-up views of performers and enhance audience experience during concerts.
Leadership Transition
In a recent development, Meghan Umber Munroe was named president and CEO, succeeding Alan Fletcher after his 21-year tenure.
