Road construction is currently underway on Ruth Drive in the vicinity of Beach Access 21. Crews are installing new storm drain lines on the west end of the road, just south of Good Hope Circle, as part of efforts to mitigate flooding issues.
Project Details
The initiative includes a complete reconstruction of the road. Existing pavement is being removed, right-of-ways reclaimed, and improvements made to parking and pedestrian access to the beach alongside enhanced drainage systems.
"This is a complete reconstruction of the road. We're taking the existing road out, reclaiming right-of-ways, and creating more parking and pedestrian access to the beach and improving drainage," SPI Assistant Public Works Director Jon Wilson said.
The project is anticipated to take approximately five months to finish. Work began following announcements in mid-June, with active progress reported into early July.
Officials note that completion will facilitate better beach access by addressing longstanding drainage concerns in the area.
