The City of Flagstaff's annual Road Repair and Street Safety project, which began the week of April 27, continues to advance with focused work on multiple streets.[1] Crews are addressing concrete removal and replacement, alongside preparations for asphalt patching and chip sealing.

Road Repair and Street Safety Updates

A project update on May 8 detailed ongoing concrete work on Industrial Drive between 4th Street and Fanning Drive through May 22, Colter Drive from May 11 to 22, and Switzer Canyon Drive during the week of May 13.[1] Asphalt patching is scheduled for Industrial Drive the week of May 18, followed by chip seal applications on Industrial and Colter Drives that same week. Traffic impacts include lane shifts, shoulder closures, and flagger operations, with heavy equipment present in work zones. Affected locations also encompass Woodlands Village Boulevard, Marketplace Drive, Columbus Avenue, Zuni Drive, and others.

Lone Tree Road Closure

As part of the Lone Tree Overpass and Corridor Project, Lone Tree Road between Butler Avenue and Franklin Avenue closed in both directions from May 11 to 15 for roadway pavement installation.[2] Butler Avenue maintains two open lanes during this period. Construction on Lone Tree Road south of Butler Avenue will persist through the summer, with the overall project targeted for completion in December 2026. Residents may contact Christine Cameron, City Senior Project Manager, at (928) 213-2682, or Jesa’Lyn Waggoner with Ames Construction at (602) 540-5410 for details.

These developments underscore steady progress on local infrastructure, with drivers advised to exercise caution and plan for intermittent delays. Near-term work includes the week's asphalt and chip seal operations on Industrial and Colter Drives, alongside ongoing Lone Tree improvements that may extend disruptions into the coming months.
