The Chatsworth Courthouse is set for a significant buildout to accommodate six additional courtrooms, support spaces, and upgraded holding facilities. This project, valued at over $41 million with construction costs exceeding $34 million, aims to relocate operations from downtown Los Angeles following the federal lease expiration in 2028.[1]

Preliminary plans and working drawings are funded at $6.276 million, with phases scheduled to begin in July 2026 and construction starting in June 2027. The initiative addresses local judicial needs in the North Valley District by improving facilities for criminal cases.[1]

Education Center Construction Bids

The Los Angeles Unified School District issued a request for qualifications on February 17, 2026, for the construction of a new Early Education Center at 10017 N. Lurline Avenue within an existing school structure. The project carries an estimated value of $5-10 million, with bids due by March 9, 2026.[2]

Additionally, over 2,600 construction jobs are listed in the Chatsworth area as of April 2026, including roles for laborers, supervisors, and managers, reflecting demand from ongoing and planned large-scale builds.[3]

Looking ahead, the courthouse construction phase will commence in mid-2027, while the education center project is poised for award and start soon after bidding closes. Metrolink's Chatsworth Station Phase 1B, part of a multibillion-dollar program, is slated for fall 2026, potentially adding further professional opportunities in specialized trades.[4]
