Major construction projects continue to shape Cape Canaveral's infrastructure, with significant activity at the port and space facilities.[1]

Port Canaveral's New Parking Garage

Work advances on a $93 million, 13-story parking garage featuring 3,732 spaces and over 1.2 million square feet. The design-build project, awarded to Merritt Island-based Ivey’s Construction Group and Apopka-based Finfrock Construction, recently marked a key milestone and remains on track for a fall opening to support Cruise Terminals 5 and 6.[1]

“This new parking garage is an investment in our commitment to making Port Canaveral the best it can be for our valued cruise partners and their guests,” said Captain John W. Murray, Port Canaveral CEO.[1]

“Ivey’s Construction, along with our design-build partners at Finfrock, are proud and honored to be part of this cutting-edge project which benefits the local economy,” added Rocky Johnson, Vice President of Ivey’s Construction.[1]

SpaceX Starship Gigabay

At Kennedy Space Center, the $1.8 billion, 815,000-square-foot Starship and Super Heavy integration facility known as the Gigabay stands at 380 feet tall and rises visibly near the Indian River. Construction, which began in fall 2025, continues with completion expected this year to enable Starship stacking and launches from Pad 39A and Launch Complex 37.[2][3]

This project is creating 600 jobs, supporting SpaceX’s expansion of Starship operations in Florida.[2]

Blue Origin Expansion

Blue Origin advances Project Horizon, including an 800,000-square-foot spaceflight equipment manufacturing facility and rebuilding of Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, backed by over $3 billion in investments. The company plans to hire 100 employees for a related New Glenn rocket parts facility in Titusville.[4]

As these projects move toward completion, they position Cape Canaveral for heightened space launch activity and cruise operations, with Starship missions and terminal enhancements on the horizon.
