The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department reports steady progress on several road improvement initiatives. Airport Road Phase 1 rehabilitation, spanning from Cerrillos Road to Country Club Road, has reached 95 percent completion on asphalt work, with concrete sidewalk enhancements ongoing at 4220 Airport Road.[1] Crews prepare for pavement striping starting April 13, which will involve shifting lane closures and slow-moving equipment.[2]

Airport Road Milestone Approaches

Originally slated for completion by late May, the Airport Road project schedule has extended to the end of June due to prior weather delays and utility coordination issues. Phase 1 targets an end-of-April finish, transitioning to Phase 2 from Country Club Road to NM 599 in May. Traffic control measures, including lane shifts and flagging, remain in effect, urging drivers to plan alternate routes and extra time.[1][2]

Other Citywide Efforts

Jaguar Drive roadway improvements from Avenida El Nido to Paseo Del Sol West continue with concrete structures, including curb ramps and gutters, through mid-April, aiming for full completion by May 15.[1] The Tierra Contenta Trail extension project, closing segments of Lucia Lane from April 6 to 17, installs a new trail crossing at Lucia Lane.[3] Additional tasks include Calle Angelina striping on April 10 and right-of-way closures on Beckner Road starting April 6.[3]

Santa Fe County commissioners approved a $1 million contract for rehabilitation of the Avenida Vista Grande Bridge drainage outlet in Eldorado. Crews anticipate arriving on site in late April or early May, maintaining one driving lane per direction.[4] County spokesperson Stephanie Stancil noted, "Full closure of the bridge is not anticipated... a driving lane is expected to remain open in each direction during construction."

Regionally, NMDOT fog sealing on I-25 northbound lanes between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, from mile markers 250 to 264, runs through April 17, reducing traffic to one lane daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.[5] As projects wrap Phase 1 efforts and initiate striping and bridge work, motorists should monitor updates for potential weather-related adjustments in the coming weeks.[3]
