SpaceX has begun installing equipment at its Bastrop facility, a significant step in the development of an advanced chip packaging plant for radio frequency chips used in Starlink products.[1] The installation commenced as of April 10, with the company targeting production by the end of 2026.

The facility, part of a broader expansion exceeding $280 million, spans plans for over one million square feet of additional manufacturing space.[2][3] This project aims to bring chip packaging processes in-house, supporting Starlink kit production and advanced silicon products.

The expansion is projected to create approximately 400 jobs, focusing on roles in semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing.[2] Recent hiring postings include positions such as Construction Project Manager for Starlink operations.[4]

Complementing this, construction continues on a $20 million parking garage at the SpaceX site and a $10 million Courtyard by Marriott hotel.[5] The Bastrop County Development Services Building, valued at $9.7 million, also progresses amid bids for contractors.

These initiatives highlight sustained investment in non-road infrastructure over $5 million. Near-term milestones include further equipment integration at SpaceX and potential groundbreaking for related amenities, with data center expansions like EdgeConneX eyeing mid-2026 completion.[6]
